Happy Days but very hot...

I intended finishing my Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter, for my Grand-daughters wedding quilt, but then realised I had to add at least 15"to each side. They have a very large bed, and I wanted to make the quilt usable instead of just something that is put in the cupboard.

This was made from scraps, and I decided it was too a big job to add so many borders to it, in the style I wanted, so I will finish it for our bed, which is a bit smaller, and I will make a different quilt for Chantelle and Conrad.  They asked for Grey, Black, White and/or blue.

I am making the big stars block from Missouri Star Quilt company.  The blocks measure 24.5".  The wedding is on the 25th April, so these big blocks will grow quickly.

Not pieced together yet, just on the design wall. Prepping all the pieces to take to retreat this coming weekend...YAY!

Also at night I am making the felt flowers for my Don't Leaf Me quilt, by Wendy Williams. I love the fabrics in this quilt. I am machine appliqueing this, which is out of the norm for me, but I'm enjoying the process!

The blue in your big stars quilt really pops. That is a fab retreat project.
Love your felt flowers. They are fun, I do love felt projects myself.
Hope the hot dry weather ends soon for you.
Bordering on thoroughly drenched here on the big island. The rain was a long time coming. Great sewing weather, loving it!

Hi Sue. I can quite understand it being too hot to do much in Auckland at the moment. Your mystery quilt looks great, but the new wedding quilt looks good too. And Don't Leaf Me certainly looks like fun. I can't wait to start mine.

Don't Leaf Me looks a beautiful design, I envy you the patience to applique all those pieces.

Love all three projects! Your 'don't leaf me' is looking really great, lots of work but I'm sure it'll be so pretty!

My goodness. All that work on the Bonnie Hunter quilt (I KNOW her mystery quilts are involved!) and it's not big enough. That's too bad. But I'm glad you found a big block quilt as a good alternative. How fun for you to be making felt flowers, and doing machine appliqué. I haven't done appliqué in ages, but I always enjoy it. It's nice to see what you're working on.

Love the little blue triangles in the new wedding quilt, using a big block will ensure it grows nice and fast, you will probably have it finished by the end of the retreat.
