My Prize

I had to do a post about the fabulous 2nd prize I received from Festival of Quilts for my 30's Stars Quilt.

I was so lucky to receive a voucher from FABCO for $200 worth of fabric.
Melanie from Fabco is such a generous sponsor of FoQ  and I want to say a big thank you.

On a trip last weekend to Taupo, we called into Melanie's warehouse  for me to choose. It was really hard to do, being surrounded by so many fabulous fabrics.

Here is what I chose. 8 metres worth.

Thanks for dropping by

Some Favourite Quilts from the Festival of Quilts Show

These are by no means all of my favourite quilts that were on display. I was going to take more photos on the 3rd day of the Show, but the need for me to be at home, and help with tree clearing on our really large property required me to stay away. Keeping the husband happy.
They say happy wife, happy life, but in my case ....A happy Italian makes for a happy life. haha!!

Anyway here are some of the photos I took.

Unfortunately my photo doesn't do credit to this amazing work. The quilting was fabulous.
Annie won a Bernina Sewing Machine

Dianes Patchwork of the Crosses won 1st Amateur Large Quilts
Diane won a Bernina Sewing Machine.

Liquorice Allsorts pieced and quilted by Judi Schon

I hope you have enjoyed the photos. Until I blog again
thanks for dropping by.

Auckland Festival of Quilts.....

A great weekend with over 200 quilts on display. After scribing for one of the Judges for 2 days, I arrived on Friday morning to help on the door.

Thursday night was pretty special, as after I arrived home I received a phone call to say I had won 2nd place in the Large Bed Quilt category with my 30 stars quilt.

I asked the quilter to quilt a small flower in the large white hexagons, and to do simple quilting, which I think worked for the era of the quilt. I have used a different 30's fabric for each star, and in some cases I used some original feed sack fabric that was given to me by a friend in USA.

My evenings over the last couple of weeks has been spent watching Overlander on Lightbox...wow its a fabulous series. Quite raunchy but a lovely love story so far.

Outlander is a British-American television drama series based on the historical time travel Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon.

While watching this, I am covering 5/8" hexagons. No design in mind yet, only the colours I want to use.

If you are reading this, and are local, it would be great to see you at the Show.

Bye for now
