Hi everyone

I can't believe it is so long since I posted. I knew it was awhile, but never dreamed it was so many months ago.

I have been very busy making a very large quilt.

I managed to sneak down to my studio every morning at about 6am, so I didn't wake my DH to make a block, which took some time. No templates, just cutting random sizes to end up with a 16" block. Totally unplanned scrappy.

I also bought a Mystery Quilt kit from Quilters Lane in NZ. I don't normally buy kits, but as I loved the Anna Maria Horner fabrics, and am not used to this style of using bold fabrics, I thought it was a good way to get started. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting the fabric, PRECUT I might add, each month, and stitching them up, not knowing how it would end up.

This is as far as I have got, putting the blocks together, as the baby quilts had to be made first!

In the meantime, I have been knitting and have made these little gifts for my Great Grand-daughter, due in April.

I have also made these six bibs, which turned out pretty good. Right and wrong side showing.

An update: I found out 6 months ago, that two grand-daughters are expecting babies. The youngest girl due in late March, and her older sister due in April.

So, I had to get on with making a couple of baby quilts. I don't go to alot of effort for these, as I hope they will get thrashed in the washing machine. Their first bed quilts I take alot of time and effort over.

Close up of the back.

I ended up making 3 baby quilts, so now have one in storage until needed.

The babies have been born, so I will write about that next time.

Bye for now

Sue

Well, the good thing about posting every ten months is that you have lots of makes to share! :-) Love seeing all you've been doing, especially that scrappy quilt. A mish-mash of fabrics always seems to "work" and I love the blocks you're creating. Your Maria Horner kit is nice too. Haven't ever made a kit quilt myself, in 40-plus years of quiltmaking, so I don't know what I'm missing out on. Congratulations on all the great-grandchildren you're having! Wow! I don't know if I'll live long enough to celebrate the birth of a great grandchild, but I'm sure it's an incredible moment. I'm all for making fast and easy baby quilts too - ones that will be used and abused. "Nice" quilts come later, when they can be appreciated. Be well, my friend!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of the Pineapple quilt Sue, and love the richness of the colour in the kit of Anna Maria Horner fabrics. Congratulations on the additions to the family, no shortage of bibs and knitted bootees for the new arrivals and beautiful quilts!
