Another UFO bites the dust....

I certainly need deadlines to aim for, in order to get on and finish a quilt.
I latest one I started some months ago, but with another grand daughter's 16th birthday looming, it gave me the hurry up I needed to finish her quilt.

I machine appliqued this one, which is my go to way of appliqueing, when its for a child/teenager ( washing alot and maybe a rougher life etc)
I would rather make a quilt this way, so its not so precious that they cant use it.
I stitched Ric Rac on the raw edges of the petals.

Also showing my not so perfect machine quilting, which I also do for durability.
I used 50 weight Aurifil brown thread on the top and 50 weight Aurifil cream thread  in the bobbin.
My trusty Bernina 710 (which I love) did a pretty good job tension wise, as I thoughtlessly bought a backing which required a different colour.
The only thing is, I wished I had used 30 weight, as I personally prefer the look of the thicker thread.
Sometimes the quilting shows up better on the back.

Below: sideways hanging on the clothes line, as it was too long up the right way.

Below: with DH standing on a chair.
Not good light on the day, as it was raining on and off.

Thanks for dropping by. I'll try and thank you for commenting.

Its a great quilt design for a teenage granddaughter. You chose fun colors, a retro daisy, plus rick rack. Your post is a good reminder about using techniques that will work best for the new owner.

Something a bit different from your usual makes - love the colours, my daughter would probably have liked that too. PS - don't worry about replying, cos I know it's a pain on blogger at present.
