How Cute is this!

P1010232 Born one month ago today. She was given a paddock name by one of the grandchildren of Icecream because of the shape of the coronet on her head.
I thought I would post a photo of a quilt that I made in 2000 to commemorate the new Millinium. I was in a 2 1/2” squares of fabric exchange through out the world. It was alot harder to do in those days :-) as I wasn’t as computer literate as I am now. The exchange wasP1010249 24 different squares plus a calico square with your name and where in the world you came from. I had the need to use it for the first time last night, and thought how lovely it looked. I also figured what is the point of it being in the cupboard, and not being enjoyed. I’m not sure if anything these days will be heirlooms in 100 years or so.
P1010252 One of these blocks came from Italy, the other from USA. I kept every square that the quilter sent me, in the same block and didn't muddle anything up, as I thought it was nicer to do that. I also received a letter from each quilter, telling me about her life etc. It is a wonderful memory quilt. The sashing was a fabric that was printed with 2000 all over it. It looks so nice on the bed that it will stay there for some time..

Recently I finished a table runner for a friend in a Christmas exchange. P1010245
I practised my machine quilting and was quite pleased with the result. Much easier when its small!

I hope you all have a great Christmas with your families.

Hi Sue, Love your postage stamp quilt... i am very fond of scrap quilts. Much better to use it than hide it in a cupboard. That Runner is pretty nice too. You reminded me i started one last year, i wonder if i have time to finish it for this Christmas. Wishing you all the Joy of this Festive Season

Gorgeous table runner Sue and I just love your memory quilt and agree that it should be used. It is nice when we have a choice and can rotate quilts. Happy Christmas!

I didn't take part in a 2000 swap but I did swap at times and have one quilt made from fabric collected all over the world - yes it was harder to do then. You are right to use the quilt - enjoy it - what use is it put away. I love the design you used.

How pretty that Millenium quilt is! I know that several of my quilting friends became involved in millenium swaps, but at the time, I could't spare moments away from college studies to become involved. Still, I too bought some 2000 fabric and included it in the college graduation quilt I made for myself! Thanks for sharing your memories of making yours. It looks quite lovely and especially nice on the bed. Merry Christmas, friend!

Fabulous Millennium quilt! Neat that you were able to get the 2000 sashing fabric. I like your table runner too - and you are so right - it's nice to have small projects to practise the fmq!! Cute foal.

Gorgeous little filly, you are right, she is cute.

Love your scrappy quilt, I would have kept all the squares that each quilter sent in the same block too.

Isn't it funny how machine quilting always seems easy with a small project and then when we try on the larger quilts, it is never as easy. Everything gets better with practise though.

Love your millenium quilt, what a lovely momento from all those international swappers! I agree better on the bed than in a cupboard!! I try and rotate my quilts too, so I get to enjoy them on the bed for a while, that way they all get a turn to shine!!
Your table-runner is a lovely design too, beautiful fabrics in it! Have a wonderful and safe Christmas!!
