2371 Squares

I have been slow stitching, by hand piecing this Trip Around The World  quilt for approx. 4 to 5 years.

The squares were cut 2" square finishing at 1 1/2".

After the first couple of 'rounds ' I decided to only use reproduction fabrics.

Many, many hours hand piecing

 Choosing each new round.

I decided I wanted it square rather than rectangle so squared off each corner.
It has 2371 squares and is approx. 75"square.

At last flimsy finished and ready to go to Judi for basting!

Thanks for dropping by

Your TATW quilt is about the same size as mine, have you thought about how you will quilt it? I've seen people quilting Lines and Baptist Fan, both look good.

There's so much work in that quilt! It's just beautiful. I guess you're going to hand quilt it next - that should be enjoyable over winter. Thank you for linking up to the Peacock Party.

Hi Sue, I'm an Adelaide girl and have been following you for quite some years, without comment. Your work is rather lovely and I am amazed with your TATW Quilt, just how did you know what colour to use inch round, it's a real heirloom piece. I also have an Elly Senkiewicz (unsure how to spell this) style Baltimore quilt which as a beginner I started in about 1996. I finished all the 25 applique blocks, then I put it away not knowing quite what to do with the sashing, I think after seeing your Cherry Tree blocks you have inspired me to get it out and have a go at finishing it. I'm rather liking the idea of no sashing and just applique the border. I am amazed at how you have inspired me. By the way I simply love the Christmas Table Runner you gifted....such a lucky recipient.

What a beautiful quilt! I look forward to seeing how you quilt this. I have a 60 inch square one waiting to be quilted..... but I can't decide how to quilt it.

Sue, this is one of the most beautiful TATW quilts I've seen. I'm a self-taught
quilter of 8,years. I started one of these quilts 6, years ago bought "designer" fabric
as I didn't trust my own colour sense. The quilt was awful the fabric was UGH.
Not knowing anyone who is remotely interested in quilting I wrapped it up and sent it
to a charity. I live on a small country off of the far western corner of Europe
we have only one online quilt shop and the fabric is expensive.
I buy fabric online from the USA. I lost my quilting mojo but thankfully it's
coming back. I'm in the process of cutting 3 1/2" squares.
Ciar.
