I have been crocheting hexagons. I have checked out so many online patterns, and almost forgot where I got the original pattern from, but I remembered when it came time to put them together. There are so many different ideas out there, and although I should have been hand appliqueing or stitching my tiny hexagons at night, I found so much pleasure in sitting and crocheting, that I kept doing it. Its also a great project to take away, as it doesn’t matter if the lights not so good, whereas I tend to sit under my floor lamp when doing my stitching. This is the pattern I used http://heidibearscreative.blogspot.co.nz/2010/05/african-flower-hexagon-crochet-tutorial.html but I added an extra row to mine. I wanted the hexagons to be bigger so the afghan would get bigger quicker.
I wanted to crochet join them together, and spent a couple of hours trying different methods, but ended up with a ridge which I didn’t want. I pretty much joined them Heidi’s way http://heidibearscreative.blogspot.co.nz/2011/02/african-flower-hexagon-join-as-you-go.html but joined them every second stitch instead of every 3rd. I am quite happy with how they are turning out, just have to keep at it and stop getting distracted with other beautiful crocheted rugs.
I also made this little carry bag for a lady who, without even being a member of our club, spent hours helping us set up the show. The other night I started my 2nd Flower Garden applique block. I wish there were at least 2 more hours in the day.

a weekend with like minded ladies just doing what we all love to do. Sewing, eating, laughing and generally having fun, whilst trying to complete a few WIP’s. After having a talk with them, we all decided we were very happy doing our own thing, and not having any structure to our days of freedom ( from family & housework ) Also its the ideas that are flying around, and friendships made that make our life so wonderful.
I have a few photos of the works that were started, finished or just worked on.
Sorry photos aren’t the best, but you have to be quick. Some people just flash them. Also, tables are in the way.
Luckily I took a couple of things to work on, as the one thing I wanted to do was work on my Friendship Medallion Quilt. I cut ALL the pieces ready to sew up, did a lot of them then found after cutting them, that I had stitched them all one way. Again not taking enough care with the instructions. I never gave it a thought until I went to join up a row.
After getting myself sorted this is how the 4 rows to go on my Friendship Medallion Quilt were meant to look.
Growing like topsy! Now to send a photo to Patchwork Pumpkin
